Long before PowerPoint became ubiquitous in lectures, large illustrated plates demonstrated the morphology and anatomy of the animal world. Tardigrades, cephalopods and the like were staged with artistic and scientific precision, sometimes in soft pastels, sometimes in contrasting colours.
